Glycolic and Chemical Peels
What are the side-effects?
Some flaking of the skin may occur after your peel, this is
normal.
Any redness or dehydration will subside during the first few
days after application of the peel.
Use of 'Roaccutane' for acne must be completed six months to
one year before treatment can be administered. |
 |
How many treatments are needed?
Recommended amount of treatments are six treatments in 6-12
weeks. However, you should seek advice from your practitioner as
results and variation of treatment is personal to each individual. |
 |
How is the treatment given?
The skin is cleansed and the appropriate peel strength is
applied. |
 |
Can I use the sunbed straight after the treatment?
No sunbathing or use of a sun bed is recommended for the week
after your peel. |
 |
Do I need to do anything before I have my treatment?
Your skin care practitioner will place you on a home care
programme for at least 2-3 weeks prior to your first glycolic
acid peel. This is very important as no peel can be performed
without your skin being prepared. The Home Care Programme will
consist of a selection of products which will introduce your
skin to glycolic acid (obviously at much lower percentages than
the peels) and will also be most important as part of the
overall glycolic peel procedure as continuous home care
programme is a most important aspect of any element of success.
A sun block factor 30 is always included in the home care
programme. |

Dermal Fillers
Can this kind of technique be used to treat fine lines
and delay the appearance of wrinkles?
Yes. Fine lines are the result of the deterioration of the
dermis. Dermal filling techniques are intended for all ages and
can prevent and treat the formation of wrinkles. |
 |
Are the injections painful?
Generally no. For some of the more sensitive areas (around the
lips), an anaesthetic cream or a superficial local anaesthetic
can be applied before the injections for increased comfort.
Sometimes your practitioner may utilize a dental block to
maximize your comfort during the treatment session. |
 |
What are the common reactions to the injection?
In the hours that follow your injections, you may see some
slight swelling, small red marks or bruises. These can be masked
easily with foundation cream. Contact your practitioner if the
symptoms persist. |
 |
What will my skin look like without additional injections?
The correction will be degraded gradually until the skin
returns to its initial appearance. |
 |
Is there a treatment available for men?
Yes, in particular for nasolabial fold and deeper cheek
wrinkles. |
